South City Motors
South St. Paul, MN
O'Gara's Bar & Grill
St. Paul, MN
The South City Motors opened as Schmidt Motors in 1947. This sign is from then. In 1960, the business became South City Motors. [map]

O'Gara's Bar & Grill opened in 1941 as a tavern. Food was added later. The sign at the far right was built in 1941. It may have been a double-sided hanging sign originally. That sign was restored in 2004. The sign at the very far left is modern. The signs above the windows and near the roof may be modern replacements. The lettering was changed from "Jim's" to "Tim's". The bar closed in 2018. The building will be demolished. There are plans to reopen the bar in 2020 at a new location. I don't know if any of the signs will be displayed at the new place. It sounds like everything is being auctioned off. For more, see these websites: 1, 2, and 3. [map]

The Dari-Ette Drive-in started out as an ice cream stand in 1951. This sign is most likely from then. For more, see this website. [map]

I believe the Westside Hair Care sign is from the 1990s. [map]

Snelling Ave.
Fine Wines & Liquors

St. Clair Broiler [gone]
St. Paul, MN
The Park Liquors sign is probably from the 1950s. The sign had some neon originally. The clock was probably featured more prominently. For more, see these websites: 1 and 2. [map]

The Snelling Ave. Fine Wines & Liquors sign appears to be from the 1950s. The bulls-eye probably had pulsating neon at one time. For more, see this website. [map]

The St. Clair Broiler opened here in 1956 and this sign was probably from then. The sign was lit at night and the flames were animated. The business closed in 2017 and the sign was removed and sold. One of the text panels was sold to American Pickers. The other text panel and flames panel are in storage. For more, see these websites: 1 and 2.
