The Amon Carter Museum of American Art was designed by Philip Johnson. Texas shell stone was used for the exterior. It opened in 1961. For more, see these websites: 1 and 2. [map]

This Texas Department of Corrections building appears to be from the 1960s. [map]

Kelly-Moore Paints
Hurst, TX
This Kelly-Moore Paints building appears to be from the 1960s. I don't know if this paint store was the original tenant. Around 2022, the building was painted black. [map]

Butt-Holdsworth Memorial Library
Kerrville, TX

2018:
The Butt-Holdsworth Memorial Library was built in 1967. Around 2012, the entrance was remodeled. The semi-circular sidewalk had been replaced with steps leading directly to the front doors. The rear of the building is no longer open like it was in 2006. [map]

The Sylvan Beach Pavilion was designed by Greacen & Brogniez and built in 1953. [map]

Midland County Courthouse [gone]
Midland, TX
The Midland County Courthouse was built in 1930. It was remodeled to its current look in 1974. This photo is from 2012. The building was demolished in 2015. For more, see this website.

City Hall
Plainview, TX
This City Hall building appears to be from the 1960s. The drive-thru window on the side of the building makes me suspect that this might have been a bank originally. I suppose it could just have been a payment window for the City though. This City Hall will be moving to another building in 2018. [map]

Refugio:
Dennis M. O'Connor Public Library

metal slipcover
Rockdale, TX
Swain Plastering Co.
San Angelo, TX
I've seen this same style of metal slipcover used on many buildings in downtown areas of the Midwest and South. This building housed the Rockdale State Bank in 1964 when this slipcover was installed during a remodeling by Fehr & Granger. This building now houses the Lighthouse Apostolic Church. [map]

The Swain Plastering Co. was established in the 1960s and this building appears to be from then. [map]

Shaffer Funeral Home
San Angelo, TX
This part of the Shaffer Funeral Home maybe have been built in 1966. [map]
