former station
Providence, RI
The Fran's Place ice cream stand building appears to be a former gas station from the 1920s or 1930s. It most likely had a Spanish tile roof. Before Fran's, this building housed a beauty parlor and a dry cleaners. The building is vacant now and has been painted blue and white. [map]

former Calso station
Pawtucket, RI
This former Calso station is now used as office space for Anchor Financial Mortgage. Back when it was still a gas station, it was also known as Art's Auto. The station appears to be from the late 1920s or early 1930s. Calso, also known as the California Oil Company, did not have any East Coast stations until 1945. This station was probably originally a Socony like the very similar-looking station below. [map]

former Socony station
Central Falls, RI
This former Socony station appears to be from the 1920s or 1930s. Socony was the brand name for the Standard Oil Company of New York which later became Mobilgas. This place is still operating as a Mobil station and repair garage. [map]

2010:
This former station has been inactive for more than 20 years. At some point, these gas pump islands were removed and the building was spruced up. However, the building still appeared vacant in 2019. Does anyone know more about this place? [1992 photos thanks Steve Leek; 2005 photo thanks DinerFan] [map]
