Rex Smith Station
Springfield, MO

former Conoco station
Canton, MO
The Rex Smith Station was built in 1932 as a Flying A station. This building also served as a café and there were cabins behind it. This limestone-faced exterior was very popular in the Ozarks region. There are still many old motor courts in Springfield faced with this stone. [map]

The former Conoco station housed Buff's Engraving when this photo was taken in 2010. The building now houses a florist. [map]

former Conoco station [gone]
La Grange, MO
This former Conoco station looked like it had been vacant for many years. These photos are from 2010. By 2013, this building was gone.

former Conoco station
Kansas City, MO
This former Conoco station recently housed the Coffee Break coffee shop. It closed in 2010. Since 2022, the building has housed Tiki Taco. [map]

former Conoco station
Springfield, MO

former Conoco station
St. Joseph, MO
This former Conoco station in Springfield now houses a Subway restaurant. The station was known as Gamel's Service. I don't know when it was built but it was here by 1948. [map]

This former Conoco station in St. Joseph was built in 1921. While there are still gas pumps, it looks like the station is closed. The business was last known as Kerns' Service. [map]

former Conoco station
St. Joseph, MO
This former Conoco station has an unusually-shaped office. It appears to be original. The building was vacant when these photos were taken in 2010. By 2013, the building was housing Mei-Hop Motors. By 2018, it was housing Las Vegas Auto Sales. The building has been vacant for a number of years now. [map]

former Conoco station
Sedalia, MO
This former Conoco station was built in 1931. The building later housed the Skin Thieves Tattoo Studio. Around 2022, the building was remodeled and it lost many of the Conoco details. It no longer has a chimney and there's a big window in the gable. For more, see this website. [map]

former Conoco station
Cuba, MO
This former Conoco station was housing an upholstery store when these photos were taken in 2010. The building has been restored for a Christian Science Reading Room. [map]

former Conoco station
Caruthersville, MO
This former Conoco station housed Genesis Home Care when these photos were taken in 2009. By 2012, the building was housing a bail bonds office. It appears to be vacant now. This station features funky rocks around the door. The only other Conocos that I've seen with this are in Norton and Topeka, KS and Altus, OK. [map]

former station [gone]
Liberty, MO
This former station was scheduled to be demolished in 2006. However, as of 2015, it was still standing and vacant. It was gone by 2018. [photos thanks Scott Shipers]

This former D-X station was built in the 1930s. The building now houses Ott's Pizza. [map]

former D-X station

This former D-X station was built in 1929. It was restored around 2012 and the sign and reproduction pump where added. [map]

This former station was apparently being renovated when this photo was taken in 2010. The building now houses a barber shop. [map]

former Sinclair station
Cabool, MO
This former Sinclair station was housing Sparks Auto Electric when these photos were taken in 2010. By 2016, the building had been remodeled and the details removed. The facade was exposed brick and the building was housing an insurance office. [map]
