Thunderbird Drive-in
Hickory, NC
The Bessemer City Drive-in opened in 1949 and operated until 2014. This photo is from 2010. The marquee sign was still there in 2021. For more, see this website. [map]

I believe the Twilite Drive-in opened in 1955. It has been closed for many years but this screen tower remains. The property is now used by Roberson's Mini Storage. [map]

The Thunderbird Drive-in opened as the Springs Road Drive-In. It was operating by 1950. Movies were shown for the last time in 1988. The site is now used exclusively for the Springs Road Flea Market. This photo is from 2010. The sign was repainted around 2015. For more, see this website. [map]

Raleigh Road Outdoor Theatre
Henderson, NC
2004: 2007:
The Raleigh Road Outdoor Theatre opened in 1949 as the Moon-Glo Outdoor Theatre. In 2004, the drive-in was taken over by a new owner. It was refurbished and the screentower was repainted. The sign on the screentower probably had neon inside the channel lettering originally. For more, see this website. [second photo thanks Robby Delius] [map]
