|Lou Esper Barber Stylist
Michigan City, IN
|The Lou Esper Barber Stylist occupies a Valentine diner which opened here in 1956. It was known as the M&M Diner until it closed in the mid-1960s. In the early 1970s, most of the interior was stripped when the diner was converted into the barber shop. The two photos on the left are from 2006. The photo on the right is from 2009. I believe the barber is still in business despite the now missing sign above the building. For more, see this website. [map]|
|Little Chef's Diner
New Albany, IN
|The Little Chef's Diner was installed here in 1957. It is a Valentine Little Chef model with ten stools. These photos are from 2010. This diner closed in 2012. It reopened later that year as D.P. UpDogs. I believe that business has now closed. For more, see these websites: 1, 2, and 3. [map]|
|The Oasis Diner is a 1954 Mountain View. It was also known as the U.S. 40 Diner and The Diner. It closed in 2009 due to structural problems and health code violations. These photos were taken then. In 2010, the diner was donated to the town of Plainfield. In 2014, it was moved downtown and reopened as the Oasis Diner. The rooftop sign was restored and the original Oasis Diner and palm tree signs were replicated. For more, see these websites: 1, 2, 3, and 4. [map]|
