Riverside Park Carousel
Logansport, IN
The Riverside Park Carousel is a Dentzel from 1902. It was originally installed in Fort Wayne, IN. In 1919, it moved to Spencer Park in Logansport. In 1950, it moved here to Riverside Park. It was restored in 2008. These photos are from 2009. This carousel features 33 horses, three giraffes, three goats, three deer, one lion, one tiger and three chariots. There is a brass ring machine which I did not photograph. This carousel is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. It is one of only three remaining stationary Dentzel carousels. The figures do not move up and down. Most of these carousels were converted later with jumping mechanisms in the early 1900s. another carousel or is a replica. There is also a 1922 Wurlitzer band organ. For more, see this website.
